Every Friday, we’ll have a new Featured Student who will share some fun facts about themselves and get a fun gift from us.
Just for being so awesome.

Recruiting Intern, Northwestern Mutual – Southwest
I am a first-generation college student. I’m studying human resources and communications at Purdue University. I’m in love with my university and owe my mother everything for finding a way to get me there every semester. I was lucky to be accepted at Purdue University and even luckier to get an internship back home!
Helping others is my true calling, whether it’s a human or a furry friend. I have rescued and loved three amazing cats; they are what comfort me when times get rough. They can be there for me when I can’t be around family. I take millions of pictures of my pets and I’m sure others are tired of seeing them, but pets are really humans’ best friends.
Working for Northwestern Mutual has been wonderful! With the internship wrapping up, I think about the day I was called about the opportunity. I applied for the position in Indianapolis, Ind. on Internships.com, but they had finished hiring for the summer, so they forwarded my resume to the Phoenix office.
When I got the call, I was completely thrown off. “Phoenix? Like back home, Phoenix?!” I remember thinking. I immediately called my mother and explained to her what the recruiter had just told me.
Being able to intern and be home has made this experience better than I could ever expected. I’ve learned so much at my internship and even got a friend hired here. Interning has been a huge influence on my professional life, and I hope everyone realizes how important an internship is.
