A couple of weeks ago, I addressed the topic of communications, and how there are just about an infinite amount of ways to convey a message. Journalism is yet another form of communication, but more specifically involves “the investigation and reporting of events, issues and trends to a broad audience,” according to Wikipedia. Personally when I think of reporting, I think of the news reporters I see on television, but this is just one type of journalist. There are many other ways journalists communicate to a broad audience like through the radio, newspaper, and most recently online. Because of the nature of the job, journalists will typically be very comfortable dealing with a lot of research, writing, editing, photography, and reporting. A journalist must be trustworthy, reliable, and truthful when reporting events because as Ben Parker stated, “With great power comes great responsibility.”
