Getting a place of your own means knowing where you are going to move, having the money for a security deposit and being able to pay rent. In many areas, the market is actually pretty good for renters.
For those of you bold enough to say “No, I’m finding my own place,” be sure to take your time in looking — and don’t be afraid to bargain on the rent. When I first moved to downtown Miami during the beginning of the recession, I got my landlord to come down $400 from the original monthly rate!
