Hey all, welcome back to Tracey’s Angle!
Throughout all of my internships, I’ve always had a full load of tasks to complete on a daily basis, and with all of that regular work to do, new projects tended to creep into my pile. Simply put, sometimes things can be hectic…really hectic, and those are the times when the little voice in my head yells at me to, “PRIORITIZE!'
I’m a visual learner, so I would have papers pinned up, and post-it notes hanging all over my cubicle. Eventually, my desk became excessively cluttered, and I decided it was time for me to organize my work. Instead of writing my tasks on post-it notes,I created a “To Do' list that I filled out daily. Having everything that I had to do on one sheet of paper helped me to complete my tasks in a timely and more efficient manner. I’ve also found it helps to get advice from my boss when it comes to prioritizing my tasks. After all,the boss is the one who assigned the work and due dates are very helpful for organizing workload.
With all of this being said, I do tend to have trouble with focusing, which is key when it comes to prioritizing. Focus is important because without it, tasks will most likely fall short in the quality department. And if poor focus leads to quality issues, that will reflect poorly on an intern’s credibility.
So, my advice is to prioritize your tasks and focus on getting the job done—well. Is there a specific situation or issue that you want to discuss? Do you have a story that you want to share? Pour your thoughts, questions, and comments into my inbox anytime. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Next week I’ll share with you all how I got the most out of all of my internships.
Don’t miss out on this juicy topic. :]
