Description

Madyha Farooqui Jewelry is a NYC based, small business, sold exclusive luxury retailers & with extensive editorial press.

As an intern you will be involved in all aspects of the business, with the primary focus on jewelry production in the Diamond District and nearby areas, as well as office support (including: interacting with clients, editors, vendors & manufacturers). We are launching a pop-up shop in March and additionally this will be an opportunity to learn about partnerships, merchandising, press, retail sales, event planning & brand building.

Responsibilities:
Assist in production of the jewelry
Assist in sourcing materials
Liaise with our vendors/manufacturers/factories
Interact with clientele
Learn about diamonds and precious metals
Learn how the jewelry is made
Learn about all the on-goings in a small business
Support daily office tasks
Work closely with the owner & one staff member

Pays a stipend $10 daily (8 hr day) & a monthly metrocard
Or for course credit

Requirements

4 month commitment, 2-3 days a week. Ideal candidate has an interest in fashion, production/manufacturing & jewelry.

Recent graduate or currently enrolled in BA/BFA/MFA/MBA degree program.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint.
Organized, detail oriented, excellent note & record keeping skills.
Well spoken, articulate, strong writing skills & well turned-out.
Knowledge of jewelry making or gems is a plus.
Knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator & CAD/RHINO for jewelry a plus.
Ability to render jewelry, a plus.
Experience in retail sales, a plus.
2 letters of recommendation: academic faculty, past or present emploer, previous internship, etc
