We are looking for a Public Relations Assistant with great understanding of the trends in fashion and beauty and incredible social fluency to lead media / blogger relations for both our agency and all our clients. This role is an intensive foray into the world of public relations for fashion brands as you will be responsible for creating connections with journalists, bloggers, editors and other media professionals while capturing the brand's essence and accentuating key qualities in relation to media opportunities. Ultimately, your creativity will foster growth for our clients.
ResponsibilitiesWith the assistance of senior management; oversee and execute overall public relations and media strategy for clients of the agency.
Researching, curating and otherwise developing consistently accurate lists of media contacts, including but not limited to journalists, bloggers, editors, reporters, freelancers and other media personnel;
Maintaining constant communication with a network of stylists and wardrobe specialists, specifically in relation to editorial opportunities, celebrity events, television and digital media for the express purpose of trafficking goods to increase visibility for the clients of the agency.
Develop and recruit bloggers for overall blogger program as a source of on-demand testimony of product for clients of the agency;
Conducting research, press outreach and building media relationships in order to secure press coverage, sponsorship opportunities, award submissions and speaking engagements, including but not limited to crafting story angles and drafting pitches;
Staying abreast of overall media calendar and public relations opportunities to increase relevance of pitches to media and opportunities to meet with media to discuss overall clients of the Agency;
Write a minimum of 1-2 blog posts per week for posting on our various clients to be posted on their website or as a guest post.
Attending events for the express purpose of building opportunities to increase visibility of clients by interacting with aforementioned media and celebrity personnel and liaisons;
Proactive media monitoring and maintaining trackers of media and pending placements in order to create client-facing collateral for media placements;
Regular account management duties, including media send-outs, meeting planning, updating contact lists, developing recaps and agendas and maintaining subscriptions;
Work with marketing team to brainstorm creative concepts for campaigns and strategies to increase engagement across digital communities based on trending topics
Assist with strategies and methods to increase syndication / reach of content you create
Compiling monthly recap reports for clients of the Agency;
Other projects as needed
RequirementsPrevious experience with utilizing a CMS or creating content online is a must.
Incredible understanding of fashion trends and the how communities are built and engaged around fashion online.
Knowledge of captivating rating techniques or styles built around previous experiences writing for a blog that is either your own or belongs to another brand.
Ability to effectively communicate brands and concepts very well through a variety of social channels.
Previous education / coursework in Public Relations is essential, as is the understanding or interest in learning how to communicate with editors, journalists, writers and bloggers.
Knowledge / ability with blogging, photography, photo retouching, videography or video editing is a huge plus.
Previous experience assisting with creative / fashion shoots and / or fashion editorials and documenting the brand's story is a huge plus. Magazine shoots, lookbook shoots, short films or fashion video is a huge plus.
Must have previous experience managing social media / blogging in some capacity for another brand or firm.
