Description

CINEMA IMPERFECTA was founded by sisters Alexandra Lippman and Nadia Szold in 2006 to produce narrative and documentary projects. The group is trickster in spirit, which in the words of David Mamet is “the propensity to upset and so reorder the world on a different level of abstraction, which is the job of the moviemaker.”

The mere feat of pulling off a film relies heavily on using one’s wits, improvising, thriving on challenge and chaos. The company is transnational at its core. In our era it is not only possible to collaborate with people hailing from all corners of the world, it is natural to do this.

The idea of foreign isn’t a roadblock; it’s of the everyday, and thus is incorporated into our work and into our stories. The heart and mind of a project is made up of all those who work on it. What CINEMA IMPERFECTA has created, and what it continues to grow, is a crew of craftspeople and actors who share a common vision and bring to it their individually fine tuned talents. We are for the integrity of stories where the characters and locations are paramount.

The artists we work with all share a long love affair with movies and have a respect for those who give themselves to be filmed- actors and non-actors alike. We do not believe that movies need inflated budgets and army-sized crews to achieve high production value. CINEMA IMPERFECTA is made up of those who not only watch a film, but feel and listen to it as well.

Aesthetics is not a goal; it is a by-product. CINEMA IMPERFECTA endeavors to continue the strong tradition of cinematic storytelling. Our aim is to bring audiences the joy of watching impassioned characters in all their human perfection and imperfection live on the screen.
