DescriptionWe believe that you don't need permission to be awesome. If you aspire to be a PA/Grip, this internship is NOT for you.
At Robot Underdog, we constantly push the limits, break barriers, and do what people say can't be done. If you want to learn to write, direct, produce and bring YOUR own projects to life, then Robot Underdog is the place for you! Don't waste your summer at a desk filing papers when you could be actually making video projects! Pencil pushers need not apply, we need creative thinkers!
**The "Producer Intern" position does vary from the other "Production Intern" positions because you will be learning the ropes of producing both in the field and in pre-production. You'll learn the boring paperwork side of things including how to get a permit & pull insurance, make budgets, call sheets etc… BUT you'll also learn the creative aspect of producing and be able to have a "big picture" view of how the creative side must work within the boundaries of the "paperwork side".
Not many people have what it takes to produce - and this is an opportunity to find out if you'll cut it. The producer is the heart and soul of the production and often times you literally have to put projects on your back and go miles further than anyone else on the team. This internship will not be easy, but it will be rewarding.
About Robot Underdog: At RUD we only make cool video projects that often feature action packed martial arts, explosions, super powered VFX/CG, & action centric scenes! We also have fun weekly content to keep our fans entertained while we work on the BIG projects. We are currently working on one of the largest web series to ever hit the internet (literally) with our pilot episode clearing 14 million views views in 2 months! We are starting pre-production on the rest of the webseries soon and we also have other pilots in the works too! We know how to make really awesome projects, but we also believe in building a team and making a difference in the film community. These times they are a changing' and you'll need to know how to think on your feet and become a "predator" and we can help you learn. One added perk is that we ALWAYS make a final product, so by the time you're done, you'll have footage for your reel!
We shoot and work in the Los Angeles area. Shooting schedules vary especially for larger web series but we can work with your availability as long as you are somewhat flexible. Our current weekly show shoots on Saturday - so Saturday availability is preferred. ResponsibilitiesThink outside the box. Be able and willing to learn the ropes of producing. There is no definitive job description for the producer.
Producing = doing whatever it takes (literally whatever it takes) to get the production done.
RequirementsBe dependable - show up and be ready to learn. Must be able to pay attention to detail and get the job done correctly. Knowledge of how to use a spreadsheet is pretty important. Must be able to anticipate problems and think on your feet. You'll need thick skin and the ability to take constructive criticism as well as be able to handle the pressure of everyone and everything depending on you. The producer is the most difficult job on a film set - this internship is not for the faint of heart.
SkillsRequired - Excel, Google Apps, Digital Cameras, Adobe Premier Pro
Preferred - Digital Video, Adobe Photoshop, Film Editing, YouTube
