DescriptionThe Corporation for National and Community Service connects Americans of all ages and backgrounds with opportunities to give back to their communities and their nation. In conjunction with local governments and non-profit organizations, CNCS administers the AmeriCorps and Senior Corps. The Maryland/Delaware Corporation State Office, located in Baltimore, Maryland, provides the operational development, management, and administration of AmeriCorps*VISTA and Senior Corps programs – Foster Grandparents, RSVP, and Senior Companion- in Maryland and Delaware.
The National Service Internship is more than an average internship! CNCS is looking for bright, dynamic Interns who wish to gain exposure to many facets of national service and public service by working closely with CNCS staff. This internship offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with an exciting, fast-paced, creative government agency. Interns will be charged with specific responsibilities including assisting with recruitment initiatives, analyzing data for state reports, serving as a liaison with external partners and developing outreach strategies.
This is an unpaid internship. CNCS is unable to offer stipends, relocation or housing assistance. However, this internship offers opportunities to gain excellent practical work experience and skill development. Intern(s) may be eligible to receive commuter benefits to use for public transportation to and from the internship site. Candidates are expected to make at least an eight (8) week commitment of 10 or more hours per week.
Transportation subsidy benefits will be given to interns relying public transportation.
Responsibilities2013 Maryland/Delaware Intern duties would include, but not be limited to:
• Assist with administrative support for the 2013 Summer Associate program;
• Developing a strategy for creating networking opportunity for current VISTA members;
• Conducting an assessment of the Maryland/Delaware VISTA and Senior Corps portfolios;
• Working with NCCC on collaborative recruitment or outreach activities;
• Responding to requests for information;
• Attend meetings and events as applicable.
