Description

This is a unique opportunity at the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Florida Office, where participants will have the chance to work on public policy and community relations initiatives that impact Puerto Ricans in Florida. The candidate will work alongside seasoned policy professionals on various initiatives and receive training and work experience in the different stages of community relations, communications, public relations, policy and more.

The Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA) serves as the Office of the Governor of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico in the United States and as such represents the Puerto Rico before federal, state, and local governments, promotes the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico’s economic and public policy initiatives to achieve a better quality of life for the four million U.S. citizens in Puerto Rico, and almost five million residing in the continental United States, and advises local government agencies and municipalities on issues of interest to Puerto Rico.

In addition to the Washington D.C. office, which serves as the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico’s primary liaison in the U.S. capital, PRFAA also has a Florida Regional Office based in Kissimmee, Florida. Over the last 70 years, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico’s regional office structure has evolved from providing guidance to Puerto Rican migrants, to promoting cultural awareness and helping the Puerto Rican community get involved in the political process. Today, the emphasis of the regional office is in three main areas: economic development through the promotion of business ventures between the Island and U.S. mainland communities, leadership development, and education and cultural empowerment through partnerships with community organizations. This office provides services to almost one million Puerto Ricans.
