DescriptionFabulously Feminist is a digital magazine that uses intersectional feminism as a tool to give people a voice. We are a community of dedicated contributors and passionate passers-by. We are all about sharing stories and experiences, talking about art and culture and exchanging ideas.
All members of the Senior Staff must be driven, self-starting and independent. Excellent interpersonal, communication and creative thinking skills are highly valued.
Job Purpose Summary: To work with Senior Staff to determine the best ways to visually represent Fabulously Feminist and Engage Space’s identity online.
Scope: The Creative Director will develop high-level concepts for design projects ranging from individual articles to entire social media campaigns. They will be expected to work collaboratively with staff and contributors as well as any third-party creative freelancers.
Effectively lead the unified process of marketing/concept/design and interactive/web/video/motion graphics
Assure that timely and informative communication takes place between the creative function, Senior Staff and contributors
Present cohesive and persuasive rationales for campaign approaches to Senior Staff
Direct the creative function so that the environment, culture, team, capabilities, tools, processes, expectations, work style and other elements support the strategic goals and brand of Fabulously Feminist, Engage Space
Understand strategic goals and brand
Ensure that the creative function operates in an ethical, efficient, profitable manner
Processing, prioritizing and translating marketing goals and information into strategic brand concepts, voice, messages and rationales
Work within our ethical standards and ensure all staff and third party freelancers follow these standards
Ensure that our creative product remains leading edge and ahead of our competition
Maintain consistently high standards for creativity and production
Study the creative marketplace, assess where our work stands against competitors’ work
Work towards constant improvement
Manage outside resources, including vendors, photographers, printers, freelancers, web and interactive sub-contractors
Manage the evolution of Fabulously Feminist and Engage Space’s technology needs and marketing technology and digital marketing capabilities
Very strong sense of contemporary culture, trends and potential niches
Very strong computer skills
Publishing and acquisitions experience
Market data analysis is an asset
Bachelor’s degree in communication, social sciences or related field is an asset
Secondary education in Feminism, Women’s/Gender Studies or Related Field
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Ability to juggle multiple projects at various stages of development, while maintaining a big-picture strategic view
Excellent management and leadership capabilities, ability to work well with a team
Strong partnership-building and networking skills
Ability to balance the Contributor or Partner’s wishes with the Cooperative’s goals for quality, timeliness and market appeal
Ability to organize material in a way that is tailored to the target audience
