DescriptionThe Orange County Health Care Agency (HCA) is a regional provider, charged with protecting and promoting individual, family and community health through coordination of public and private sector resources. Many of HCA's services are preventive in nature and therefore are not readily apparent to the public. Some examples of services include food protection, hazardous waste regulation, water quality monitoring and pollution prevention, mental health services, alcohol and drug abuse services, preventive health services for the aging, health care for incarcerated individuals, communicable disease control, child health and disability, immunizations, public health field nursing and public health clinics.
HCA Communications supports, coordinates and promotes effective communication in presenting the strengths of the organization and its employees in an accurate and timely manner in print and digital materials.
Interns will provide graphic art/design assistance to HCA's graphic specialists, using Adobe CS6 programs including, but not limited to Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator to develop and revise flyers, brochures, social media graphics, reports, etc.
The internship is best suited for college students or recent graduates who have completed coursework and/or gained experience in graphic design.
Skills, Training or Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have experience using the following Adobe CS6 programs: Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
Flexible schedules are available that consist of 10 - 20 hours per week for 8 - 12 weeks. Hours must be scheduled during regular business hours (Monday – Friday between 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.). Interns able to schedule the maximum hours/duration listed for the internship typically gain a more in-depth experience.
Benefits Available to Intern:

• Build resumes and work history
• Explore career options
• Apply skills and knowledge to the workplace
• Fulfill college/university internship requirements
• Network in their fields of interest with professionals who are dedicated to making a positive difference in Orange County

How to Apply:
Please email a resume, cover letter, sample portfolio and unofficial transcript. The cover letter is an opportunity for students/recent graduates to describe career and academic goals, to elaborate upon personal and academic accomplishments, to share areas of interest that relate to the internship and to identify what type of internship experience they are seeking. Please include GPA, preferred start and end dates for the internship, number of hours that can be scheduled on a weekly basis and days/timeframes available to schedule internship hours.
