Graphic Design Internship
September 2015 to April 2016
The Catholic community of Saints Peter and Paul in Hoboken, NJ, is
looking for a graphic design intern to assist the existing design
studio with layout and design work.
Situated across the Hudson River from Jersey City and easily accessed by
public transportation, the Catholic Community of Saints Peter and Paul has
over 950 registered families. Our parish embodies the life and energy of our
city and our parishioners include young families with children, married
couples, single adults, young professionals, the elderly and college students.

Saints Peter and Paul is a faith-based organization. A strong
understanding of the Catholic Church, and ideally a commitment to the
Catholic Faith, are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

With its own parish studio and marketing team, the parish has earned a
reputation for high-quality communication and continues to expand the
breadth of its outreach. The parish publishes a weekly 10-page newsletter
with local editions for another 3 parishes as well as several additional
publications for other nonprofit and Catholic organizations. The parish is also
strongly present online and manages a cluster of content-oriented websites
for other parishes and several social media channels. Additionally, the parish
studio delivers artwork, photography, video and direct and integrated
marketing for events throughout the year.

Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and other members of the
studio team, the graphic design intern will have to opportunity to create
designs in a high-paced production environment with tangible

This is a part-time, hourly-compensated internship with an expectation of
approximately 5-10 hours of work per week, which can ideally complement a
student schedule during the year.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 Design of print material including but not limited to weekly bulletin,
brochures, posters, invitations, inserts and cards.
 Design of web material such as infographics, graphics for social
networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and graphics for the website.
 Assist in the visual aspect of presentations and videos.
 Layout design and images for newsletters and emails.
 Be energetic, creative, have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and
demonstrate initiative.
 Other duties may be assigned as design opportunities emerge.

Requirements

Required skills:
 Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite Design CS6 (Mostly InDesign but
also Photoshop and Illustrator) or strong willingness to learn
 Knowledge in design fundamentals and principles.
 Ability to work both as a team and independently.
 Creative thinker and problem solver.
 Meticulous, detail-oriented mind a strong plus.

Desirable skills:
 HTML5 / CSS5 / Javascript / jQuery / PHP are desirable for
involvement in web management
 Photography
