DescriptionAbout Project DragonFruit
We are a geek romance community. Half of what we do is developing a geek dating app—imagine if your dating app felt more like a video game and your matches were based on mutual interests, rather than just a series of oddball, unrelated questions. The other half is providing funny, insightful and witty articles, podcasts, videos and infographics providing geek-centric dating and relationship advice.
We value initiative, humor, candor, creativity and ingenuity; we expect even our interns to take on a significant role in shaping our organization’s vision. And as a small team, we prefer to view our tech, marketing and creative departments as a single team that not only informs what each is doing, but actively collaborates with and contributes to each other’s projects. We are looking for current students and recent graduates interested in an unpaid Graphic Designer internship for 10 hours a week for 3 months. The internship is unpaid, with the possibility of a paid extension to term.
Please send a cover letter, resume and a link to your portfolio at firstname.lastname@example.org.
ResponsibilitiesCreate graphics assets for our site and blog, including but not limited to, landing pages, social media pages, ads, infographics and memes.
Work and collaborate with our marketing and content team on assigned projects. Interns are highly encouraged to pitch their own ideas as well.
RequirementsHave a strong sense of typography, layout and composition, primarily for web publication and occasionally for print.
Possess an eye and awareness for design trends, but willing to take, and defend, creative risks.
Able to juggle multiple projects and tasks under pressure. As a startup still establishing our brand, our creative direction and marketing strategy pivots frequently in response to web and social media analytics.
Have proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Illustrator, Indesign,
Photoshop, although Flash in addition would be helpful).
Experience with pixel art that recreates a vintage video game aesthetic is highly desirable.
Some familiarity with UI/UX.
A passion for geek culture (science fiction, anime, video games, etc). If you're the type who rattles off geek pop culture references in your everyday speech, you've come to the right place.
A sense of humor. We expect our content to entertain and make our readers laugh. We're a witty, funny bunch and hope our interns are the same.
Able to write advertising and blog copy in line with our organization's tone.
Some SEO/SEM knowledge.
Knowledge of video editing.
