JDRF in a non-profit whose primary purpose is fundraising for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. To raise these funds, Central Oklahoma holds two big fundraising events a year, The Walk to Cure Diabetes and The Hope Gala, along with various other smaller scale events.
An events intern will help with anything and everything related to these events. From logistics and working with vendors, to event day production, events interns will be involved in every aspect of planning, preparing and executing JDRF events.
As a non-profit whose primary purpose is fundraising, finance is a very crucial part of JDRF. We put on two big fundraising events a year, The Walk to Cure Diabetes and The Hope Gala, along with various other smaller scale events. It is very important that our finances are closely tracked and well organized, for JDRF operations to run smoothly.
A finance intern will assist in tracking revenue as well as expenses and making sure office procedures are following JDRF financial policies and IRS policies. They will also help organize, prepare and execute the finance portion of the fundraising events. A finance intern will also help to conduct quarterly mini-audits and help to prepare for the annual internal audit.
Social Media Intern
Social media is one of the most quick and efficient ways to spread information in today’s society. We know that we are nowhere close to utilizing social media to the best of our ability, and this is where a social media intern comes in to play!
As many as three million Americans are living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). When you take into consideration the family members and friends who are also affected by T1D, the numbers are just astronomical. JDRF Central Oklahoma currently has just over 600 people who have liked our Facebook page and under 500 followers on Twitter. This is not even close to the number of people in Central Oklahoma affected by T1D. A social media intern will help us come up with strategies to increase our reach across social media platform.
