DescriptionThe Lupus Foundation of America, Inc. is the only national force devoted to solving the mystery of lupus – one of the world’s cruelest, most unpredictable, and devastating diseases – while giving caring support to those who suffer from its brutal impact.
The Network Development Department works and consults with the Lupus Foundation of America’s 22chapter affiliates to increase the overall capacity of our national network and assist chapters in delivering the Foundation’s mission. We provide coaching in organizational leadership, finance, operations, board development, fundraising and event planning.
ResponsibilitiesThe Affiliate Member Services Intern will have an opportunity to develop a variety of non-profit management skills and support planning for major training events, like the Leadership Institute and CEO Roundtable. Opportunities are also available for focused projects to support affiliate organizations in areas of interest. Duties will include research and support capacity- building grant proposals. Collect and analyze year end statistical surveys and financial reports. Field public inquiries and track information requests. Support the coordination of meetings and teleconferences. The internship dates are flexible; however a three month commitment is preferred. The individual should expect to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.
RequirementsA junior, senior, or graduate student majoring in non-profit or public administration, public health or a related field. Strong demonstrated interest in nonprofit leadership and health organizations. Excellent research, oral and written communication skills. Excellent planning and organizational skills; detail oriented. Comfortable with independent work and self motivated. Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office. This is an unpaid internship, with the opportunity to receive college credit.
