Heartland Hospice provides a unique kind of care to terminally ill patients, offering symptom management and social/spiritual support to patients and families at this challenging time in their lives. Interns and volunteers play a vital role, providing companionship and support to our families and/or assisting in administrative positions in our office.

Friendly visitor-provide companionship for patients and/or assist with errands or other duties to assist the caregiver or patient. Friendly visitors do not provide hands-on care to patients, but rather offer much needed social and emotional support. Patients are in private homes and nursing homes, and we serve clients all over Central Indiana.

Activity Enrichment-Volunteers provide enrichment to our patients in the way of music, art, drama or pet visits.

Office Support-Perform administrative duties such as filing, copying, and answering telephones.

-Attend an orientation and training session
-Be 18 years of age or older. (Volunteers 16 and older may volunteer with an adult).
-Emotional maturity, respect for privacy, and a willingness to comply with federal HIPPA guidelines and Medicare documentation regulations.
