DescriptionSeeking an Intern at an Assisted Living in Livonia, MI. at 5 1/2 & Middlebelt. The commitment would be from the end of January until the end of June. 2016 and could continue as needed if both our company and the intern is interested in continuing the relationship. We have several activities that seniors enjoy and are seeking someone to lead them.
ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking an Intern who can indepently lead an activity that will enhance the lives of senior citizens.
1. Call bingo. 2. Lead word games 3. Do physical activities w/the residents 4. Set up & tear down small activities 5. Move chairs around as needed 6. Engage one and one with residents and 7. Be creative!!
Hours seeking some or all of these hours: Tues 6:30 to 8:30 pm, Wed 6:30 to 8:30 pm, Thursdays 1:30 to 3 pm and/or 6:30 to 8:30 pm, Fridays 1:30 to 3 pm and/or Saturdays 10 to Noon. If you choose Saturday 1 other time slot would be preferred as well and we can work out a every other Saturday rotation so your not committing to every Saturday for 6 months. We would require your weekday times during your spring break if possible. Any dates you know you can't come we must know about, 30 days in advance unless you are sick. Our residents are creatures of habit and love the routine.
RequirementsMust be able to pass a background check. Must be available 4 to 6 hours a week. Must be available at least 1 evening a week from 6:30 to 8:30 pm (Tues, Wed &/or Thur) Intern should have a passion for working with the elderly. Intern must be honest and have compassionate heart. Intern must be able to lead a small group of senior citizens. Hopefully you are in at least your 2nd year of college and studying a field that is related to elder-care, therapeutic recreation, nursing or possibly administration.
Intern would be considered if a paid position they were qualified for opened.
