DescriptionHospice Services of Massachusetts is looking to provide college students with education, experience, and course requirements, while providing our patients with compassionate volunteers. Our office in Haverhill, MA is recruiting volunteers for our Haverhill and Lowell facilities.
ResponsibilitiesVolunteering schedules can be very flexible depending on what time is good for the patient, and the volunteer's work/school schedule. Patient load and frequency is determined after training is complete. Responsibilities include completing documentation forms on time, being able to communicate with Volunteer Coordinator, hospice staff, facility staff, and of course the patient/family. Indirect responsibilities would be helping the VC with administrative tasks, such as preparing bereavement mailings, attending veteran ceremonies, or being the experienced hospice volunteer at a job fair. There are many ways to acquire internship course hours with hospice volunteering. Internships are viewed as weekly schedules, versus daily schedules. The training course covers more detailed responsibilities. Questions are always welcomed.
RequirementsAll training about hospice and hospice volunteering is provided. No experience needed. Requirements are application, references, background & CORI check, valid driver's license/auto insurance, and TB test (which we provide). This is a minimum 6 month commitment because of building relationships with terminally ill patients.
SkillsRequired - Communication, Compassionate, Empathy
