DescriptionDear Prospective Intern,
Almost a decade ago, Saeed, LoAn and I had the dream of building a utopia for healthcare. On the way, Rooz and Jung-Mee had joined us. The dream is very much alive today.
2014 was a fruitful year for Lux Dental. We continued our legislative efforts in improving healthcare for our nation. Members of our staff and interns were instrumental in the development of CureAll.org, the world’s first platform to support and bring together patients and scientists. Lux has also been involved in the development of oral health related phone apps. As a unit, it is clear, Lux is a center for innovation. In 2015, we will continue to make headway in these areas.
The Saugus practice continues to grow. We have seen more patients and achieved the highest level of service in 2014. In 2015, we will continue these efforts.
Last year also proved to be a year of unconventional collaborations. Manet Community Center has made a commitment to utilize Lux for its oral health services. Manet operates five distinct practice sites, four in Quincy and one in Hull. Manet is open five nights and six days each week. In 2012, 14,478 patients were seen during 53,475 patient visits which represent a 5.4% increase in patients and a 3.9% increase in patient visits in one year. Manet’s FY13 operating budget was $12.7 million. This is significant and the first collaboration of its sort.
The Lux Leadership Institute and the Lux Leadership Board has been meeting every other week. We value education. The case study method utilized at Business Schools is now available for our staff. We would like to reduce the cost of care while improving the value we deliver to all our stakeholders. This mission will be critical for 2015. We foresee ideas unseen in any other dental center to take life at Lux.
The road ahead is unclear, the challenges can be daunting. We see 2015 as a pivotal point for Lux. There will be change. This evolution is necessary in order for us to stay relevant.
As in past years, Lux will recruit a team of Interns, globally. This year, our focus will be on multimedia innovations. We are looking to tailor our healthcare message is a way that’s never been done before. Leveraging the internet, TV and our brick and mortar presence, we hope to deliver the message of health more powerfully.
