DescriptionThe Materials Management Department is responsible for purchasing all hospital supplies, expense and Capital equipment, distributing and controlling inventory items, managing the receiving and shipping functions, along with the Copy Center and the Biomedical Engineering Department. In addition, the Materials Management Department is responsible for the coordination of new product evaluations and product selections, price bench-marking, vendor contracting line item pricing and service agreements, and management of the Materials Database System. Furthermore, the Department coordinates the procurement of all items necessary in the opening of new departments, practices and building projects and is the Materials/ Resource Manager for the Incident Command System in emergency preparedness and during actual incidents.
The department interfaces with every hosiptal department assuring supplies are kept in stock and purchased in a timely and cost effective manner, and supplies are available 24-hours a day. Sinec the needs of patients are always changing and we need to be ready for any and every emergencysituation that may arise, the Materials Management Department strives to be sure we are equipped.
-Obtain knowledge in contract negation, leases and service agreements
-Develop a range of interpersonal skills needed in business settings
-Develop database skills thru exposure to Access Database reporting system
RequirementsTo be considered for an internship, you must:
-Maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
-Major in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Management or Health Studies
-Be a junior or senior to an accredited college or university
-Provide your own transportation to and from the internship
