DescriptionHomestead Hospice is a healthcare company designed to promote quality of life for patients diagnosed with terminal illness and given 6 months or less to live. The staff for a hospice agency consists of a Medical Director, Administrator/Director, Clinical manager, Case Managers (RN), LPN,s, CNA,s, Social Workers, Chaplains, Bereavement Coordinators and Volunteer Coordinators.
ResponsibilitiesWe ask that after volunteers complete necessary paper work and orientation, that they choose what area of volunteering they are interested in such as: clerical/office, bereavement care and patient care. The tasks in patient care would consist mainly with volunteer sitting with patient at their home or facility. Bereavement care would consist with helping call grieving families, follow-up duties and attending memorials/funeral homes. Clerical volunteer would consist mainly of office work such as: filing, mailing, calling and answering phones.
RequirementsThe internship for hospice is designed to help students, usually in their Bachelor program, who need practicum or intern hours for their degree requirements. Those degree programs could consist of RN, LPN, CNA, SW, Chaplain, Human Services, Counseling and other related programs.
