Beyond Green Partners Foodservice Intern in Buffalo, NY

Beyond Green Sustainable Food Partners promotes healthy food choices through scratch cooking, food education, training, and development while contributing to personal wellbeing and the betterment of the planet; and we are introducing an exciting and groundbreaking culinary program.

Candidates need a great attitude, interest in sustainable food systems, and the ability to think fast, listen, and follow directions. This person will work in the foodservice operation at Nardin Academy in Buffalo, NY while completing this training program.

Intern training is based on:
• Kitchen assessment
• Sustainability strategies
• Kitchen operations based on sustainability
• Scratch cooking evolution and healthy food procurement

Interns will:
• Prepare scratch cooked meals based on sustainable food systems in institutional kitchens
• Perform responsible waste management practices
• Source local, organic, and preferred food items
• Gain leadership and management skills
• Examine food systems and impact on health, environment, and community
• Gain competitive edge in job placement, vision, and skills for institutional foods

Job Description:
Prepare scratch cooked foods including salads, soups, sandwiches, entrees, and bakery
Learn revolutionary menu, purchasing, and waste management systems
Ability to identify ingredients and follow a standard recipe
Demonstrate BGP Mission

Required Job Skills and Qualifications:
• At least 2 years of cooking/kitchen related experience
• Sanitation certificate required
• Proficient knife skills
• Perform multiple tasks simultaneously and organize time
• Punctual, clean, presentable, tactful, and courteous
• Interest in sustainable food/agriculture

Unpaid Internship with flexible hours: 20 hours per week; 3 month commitment

Internship Completion may lead to future job placement with Beyond Green independent school accounts which may require relocation
