DescriptionPopular Reception, Banquet and Meeting Company in Northern Virginia is seeking several interns to assist our event and sales staff at two locations. We have offices in Fair Oaks and Springfield, Virginia. Hours would be set but flexible to a college student or graduate student. Perfect for someone contemplating a career in the hospitality industry. Our office is a fast paced, jovial environment that needs the right person to support our management staff. Many of our interns have gone on to work for wedding venues and major hotel/entertainment chains. You will be exposed to a lot of different cultures and ethnic customs. This is a great place to experience a diverse clientele and many types of events.
ResponsibilitiesIntern(s) will be responsible for answering phones, welcoming customers, filing, putting packages together, competitive research, and general office support as needed. Longer term interns will be trained to give customer tours and provide increased customer support on an as needed basis. Maybe trained in room diagraming programs to assist event layout if intern shows interest in expanding responsibilities. Opportunities to help with weddings a possibility.
RequirementsInternship applicants must be high school graduate. Interns enrolled in an accredited university hospitality management program are preferred, but that is not required. Would prefer telephone answering experience, light secretarial experience and a desire to learn. Previous sales experience a big plus.
