DescriptionWe are Cacique Cruiser, a guiding operation and travel agency specializing in the remote San Blas islands inside the semi autonomous, indigenous Guna Yala Comarca, Panama. The comarca (territory) is home to not only 365 breathtaking caribbean islands, but also a fascinating indigenous culture and a spectacular amount of wildlife. We have been operating in these islands for over 3 years and are looking for skilled and dedicated interns that seek a truly enriching work/life experience.
ResponsibilitiesBusiness Operations - Panama City, Panama:
Guest service - Online and at our travel desks
Client relations and communications
Administration - online
Data entry and report creation
Island Operations - Guna Yala islands, Panama:
Hosting, translating, and providing services for our guests
Act as a translator and liaison between our guides, guest and team in the city
Monitor and manage trip quality & consistency
Sales & marketing
Research projects and reports
Brand and media management - website, social media, public relations
Sustainability development and implementation
Community Based Efforts:
We have 4 community focuses in which interns will participate, and in this area we are looking for intern not only to participate but also to lead and accelerate change:
Teaching english in the Guna Yala communities in which we operate. We are specifically focused on basic english for children and conversational english for tourism targeted at local adults that want to expand their opportunities by speaking English.
Organizing campaigns to grow awareness and gain support for the programs causes.
Leading waste education classes and island cleanup projects.
Creating content such as photos videos, editorials, history etc to support the cause.
RequirementsExcellent communication skills: English - excellent, Spanish - minimum Intermediate level. Interns must be conversational in Spanish and English. While in the islands interns will be responsible for translating conversations and instructions between the 2 languages.
Interpersonal skills: Outgoing personality & excellent guest service
Pro-active and initiative taking
Ability to deal with stressful situations
Problem solving skills
Experience in hospitality preferred
