Internship Overview: The Tierra del Sol Foundation’s Human Resources team serves over 300 clients, providing support and guidance to all levels of management and staff. The HR department provides a variety of services including recruiting, staff training and development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, safety and workers compensation, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), suggestion program management, wellness, performance management, employee recognition, policies and procedures, and more, in support of the foundation’s mission. This is a unique opportunity to gain insights into how a medium-sized non-profit organization functions, while helping us to serve those who serve our clients, adults with developmental disabilities. This internship is for a set period of 150-200 hours and carries no offer or guarantee of employment with the organization.

Compensation: This internship is unpaid and compensated with course credit from a college or university. This internship does not include medical benefits. While working with us, the intern will have access to our employee entertainment discount program, monthly safety snack incentives, special employee events, and will be provided a supportive learning environment.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The HR Intern will work closely with the HR Manager, and the other members of the HR team, on a number of projects including, but not limited to:
•Ongoing development of policies and procedures
•Records management and internal file auditing
•Assisting with training set-up and delivery
•HRIS editing and updating
•Pre-screening applicants
•Employee communications


Requirements and Desired Qualities: To be considered for this position, applicants should have a sincere desire to learn about the field of human resources, and a strong desire to serve others. Applicants should have good computer skills with knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), social media, and have excellent organizational skills. Applicants will need to be able to pass a DOJ LiveScan background check and a physical exam which includes a TB test.

The intern is expected to be with us 150 - 200 hours, depending upon college credit requirements, Monday - Thursday, 9am to 1pm.
