DescriptionEldridge Overton Educational Programs is a progressive educational services firm that offers academic support to students of all ages. Our innovative agency partners with families, school districts, nonprofit agencies, state agencies and private entities to offer enrichment courses, gifted and talented programs, leadership training, professional tutoring and much, much more. Interns work in our corporate office, which is located in Green Brook, NJ.
We are seeking dynamic Human Resources Interns to reach out to and actively engage with potential applicants. The HR intern will be exposed to all of the functions of a human resources department and assist in preparing the foundational needs of an expanding educational firm. The position coincides with a goal of integrating skills acquired through University classroom lessons and hands-on experience in the workplace. Major projects may include: updating and posting job descriptions, applicant tracking, employee recognition, recruiting prospective employees, and assisting in scheduling and conducting interviews.
As respected members of the Administrative team, interns participate in weekly planning meetings and are expected to complete tasks and projects in their respective fields of study. Our unique and highly selective internship program welcomes motivated Interns wishing to engage in a meaningful work experience to apply. Serious Interns are encouraged to apply and submit required documentation for review.
Various internships (p/t vs. f/t and one semester vs. multiple semesters) are offered. As an integral member of the EOEP, we greatly value the necessity to fully orientate Interns to the Eldridge Overton organizational culture and system. Accordingly, full time and longer termed internships (multiple semesters) are favored. However, we do hire part time and one semester Interns. Since a tremendous experience is granted via this internship, Interns may either earn college credits (where applicable) OR a monetary stipend. A minimum of 15 hours per week is required. The stipend offered is per semester, but is payable monthly throughout the duration of the internship. Interns working less than full time are offered a prorated stipend based on the number of hours worked per week. All of our previous Interns have been offered entry to competitive graduate programs, positions at top firms and Fortune 500 companies in their respective fields.
ResponsibilitiesBasic Function and Responsibilities including but not limited to:
• Assist Human Resources Team
• Work closely with all departments especially those with positions to fill
• Keep company activity calendar up-to-date
• Track all applications/resumes as well as all employee paperwork
• Assist with new hire orientation
Requirements• Studying or recent graduate (preferably in human resources or business related fields)
• Commitment to quality and strong organizational skills
• Able to work with a group and independently in fast paced environment
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills, ability to multi-task and be detail oriented
• Available occasional weekends for fairs and recruiting opportunities
• Passionate about the importance of education in the community
