Description

Vincentian Collaborative System is a Catholic not-for-profit health care and human services organization that coordinates the care of three senior care communities--Vincentian Home in McCandless, Vincentian de Marillac in Stanton Heights, and Marian Manor in Green Tree. Last year, the organization received 20,000+ hours of service of over 1200 volunteers.

In order to continue this rate of growth, the Director of Volunteer Services is seeking interns with an interest in human resources or nonprofit management to serve on a new Volunteer Development Team. If you are interested in developing the potential, passion and purpose of people, and want to gain or share your experience in training, coaching, online management systems, customer service or interviewing—we’d love to talk to you! Team members will help facilitate the volunteer interview and orientation process, connect new volunteers to the people and resources they need to be successful, provide input into improving volunteer satisfaction and effectiveness, and serve as a liaison between facility staff and volunteers at the location of your choice and the Director of Volunteer Services. Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
• Learn and demonstrate competencies for all procedures, guidelines and program standards of the volunteer program
• Facilitate the volunteer interview process and coordinate screenings for qualified applicants in a time-sensitive and streamlined manner
• Follow policies and procedures related to volunteer management
• Provide a welcoming environment and on-boarding process for new volunteers
• Serve as a liaison between facility staff and volunteers
• Be a point of contact for new or inexperienced volunteers
• Connect new volunteers to volunteer resources, provide shadowing opportunities and/or assist with recommending or developing systems, instructions and development opportunities for volunteers
• Coordinate activities for the recruitment and retention of facility volunteers
• Establish professional rapport with facility staff, volunteers, residents, and guests to improve volunteer satisfaction and effectiveness
• Identify opportunities for continuous quality improvement in the volunteer program
• Assist with events where inexperienced or new volunteers are assigned
• Support the fund raising efforts of Vincentian Collaborative System and act as an ambassador for the mission and values of the organization

Requirements

• Develop an appreciation and understanding of the role of volunteers in the organization in order to motivate, engage and recognize them effectively
• Ability to gain familiarity with the facility, conduct tours and make rounds
• Experience or interest with interviewing, training and coaching
• Demonstrated leadership and customer service skills
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Computer experience with email and Internet access
• Decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work with diverse groups
• A commitment toward quality improvement
• Ability to work effectively alone and in teams
• Maintain high standards of professionalism and confidentiality
• Support for Vincentian Collaborative System (VCS) and advancement of its mission
