DescriptionThe Front Porch Center for Innovation and Wellbeing (FPCIW) explores the innovative uses of technology to empower individuals to live well, especially in their later years. FPCIW works collaboratively with all stakeholders and in partnership with funding sources, researchers and technology partners. The Intern will have an opportunity to participate in a variety of responsibilities including leading the volunteers through the recruiting and clearing process and assist with the coordination and weekly placement of volunteers. This person will report to the FPCIW director.
The FPCIW Intern is expected to have transportation and a phone. Location – can work remotely from home and/or may be able to work in the Burbank headquarters or one of many project sites all over Southern California.

Time Commitment and Pay
This is an unpaid, part-time volunteer position. Hours are flexible and we’ll work around the Intern’s schedule. This Internship opportunity is available to start immediately.

a. Promote volunteer participation for areas such as:
i. Health-related, technology-based activities for a diverse population of senior and disabled residents of the Los Angeles neighborhood through the Model eHealth Community for Aging (MeHCA) project.
b. Nurture the development of community leaders to support project activities.
a. Support scheduled training and workshop activities at the targeted communities.
b. Assist with project activities.
a. Recruit volunteers, including giving presentations.
b. Organize clearing process for volunteers and check that volunteers cleared before they begin.
c. Enter data from surveys following each workshop.
d. Coordinate the weekly placement of volunteers.
e. Perform follow-up calls with volunteers and project participants.
f. Perform pre-screen calls for prospective volunteers.
Requirements• Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills; ability to verbally express ideas assertively, clearly.
• Ability to develop strategic direction and also parcel objectives into short-term tasks.
• Excellent organizational skills to determine workload priorities to enable timely completion of tasks; ability to work effectively and independently under pressure with a minimum of direction.
• Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with others to secure necessary information and cooperation from a variety of people.
• Must live within 20 miles from site (91203 zip code)
• Willing to commit to 6 months minimum
