About the District of Columbia Retirement Board ("DCRB"): DCRB is an independent agency of the District of Columbia Government. DCRB has the exclusive control and discretion to manage and control the District of Columbia Police Officers and Fire Fighters’ Retirement Fund and the District of Columbia Teachers’ Retirement Fund. DCRB is also the benefits administrator for the District of Columbia Police Officers and Firefighters’ Retirement Plan and the District of Columbia Teachers’ Retirement Plan (the Plans).

Opportunity: DCRB is currently seeking business students to serve as interns in the agency’s Benefits department. The internship will be part-time, at a maximum of 20 hours per week, with a one-year commitment. Flexible work schedule available. Compensation will be available.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Director of Benefits Special Projects on the execution of special projects, such as analyzing large data sets, producing correspondence, and conducting member research related to retirement records.
• Work with staff in the creation of forms, templates, and databases to assist in the efficient transmittal of information to the department.
• Assists the Member Services Manager in servicing membership by answering inquiries, reviewing member data, composing correspondence, performing record management duties, and assisting in the completion of administrative special projects.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s (third or fourth years of academic career) or Master’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field.
• Interested in learning about retirement and benefits administration.
