Description

Bello Machre is a non-profit organization that provides a lifetime commitment of loving care, opportunity and guidance to individuals with developmental disabilities. We own and operate over 55 homes in Maryland where 3-4 individuals live full time. Many more individuals are supported within their own home by our direct support staff.
Human Resource Department is responsible for the entire employment process including hiring, training, benefits & insurance, and employee recognition. Students assist in a variety of duties including conducting reference checks, observing interviews, updating employee records, planning staff recognition events, and writing articles for the employee newsletter. By assisting with the department’s strategic goals, the student will succeed in our overall mission of developing and expanding the Bello Machre culture.

Please note: this is an unpaid internship. Qualifying students are eligible to receive a stipend made possible through the Kathy and Jerry Woods Foundation upon successful completion of 120 hours.

Requirements


Basic Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. In addition to the requirements below, the intern must be at least 18 years of age, have a nurturing and caring demeanor, and have a genuine interest in supporting the independence of those we serve.

Education and Experience
In order to qualify for the stipend, the intern must be enrolled full-time in a program of higher education, and must be in good academic standing. The individual should have completed fundamental classes such as writing and math.

Skills
The ideal candidate with exhibit proficiency in basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel, etc.) The candidate would be enthusiastic and capable of working independently. Due to the nature of this position and the need for clear communication over the phone and in person, applicants must have a clear and articulate speaking voice.


Training, Licenses and Certifications
There are no specific licensure requirements for this position. Training to be completed upon hire will be provided at the expense of Bello Machre, Inc.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the intern is regularly requires to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, bend, lift and reach with hands and arms. The intern may need to lift at least 50 pounds.

Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the intern may be in a variety of locations and conditions, including but not limited to the home, various offices and out in the community.

Background Check and Drug Testing
Applicants must be willing to submit to a background check and drug testing. Due to the nature of this work, all applicants must pass both the background check and drug testing to qualify for the internship.
