Job Summary:
Inspired by a commitment to excellence, the HR/payroll intern at the Company creates unforgettable memories for our guests. The successful HR/payroll intern supports the human resources and payroll functions for all cities/business units to ensure consistently high levels of quality, service and customer satisfaction while maintaining a high level of profitability.


Essential Functions:

Assist Human Resources/Payroll department with various HR/Payroll-related functions, supporting all shipmates Company-wide, while abiding by all Company policies and procedures
Properly input data and process new hires into the payroll vendor system
Input uniform deductions, direct deposits, and shipmate demographic changes
Verify I-9 documentation for new hires and run through E-Verify
Process background checks
Assist with various payroll functions to ensure timely and accurate paychecks
Assist in maintaining an accurate and complete HR section on the Intranet
Maintain regular communication with fleet managers to ensure new hire paperwork is completely in a timely manner
Responsible for sending out department mail, utilizing the postage machine and/or the Post Office
Maintain personnel files, medical files, employment verifications, and other filing ensuring regulation compliance
Maintain HR hotline inbox daily
Resolve shipmate questions and inquiries including guiding them to the appropriate shipmate/department
Participates in special projects as requested
Participates in department meetings
Performs other duties as assigned


The successful HR/Payroll Intern will personally contribute to the unforgettable guest experience, be favorably viewed by supervisors and peers, and be swift and efficient in the execution of assigned duties. Performance will be measured by quality, service, management evaluation, and feedback from peers on the city’s team.


Job Specifications / qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required
Must be earning an associates or bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field
Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources
Prior experience with an HRIS/payroll database is a plus
High attention to detail
Able to work in an organized manner and manage multiple priorities/tasks
Able to maintain confidential information
Able to consistently meet tight deadlines
Able to communicate effectively in oral and written form
Proficient computer skills and working knowledge with Microsoft Office applications (especially Word & Excel)
Able to work independently
Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Qualified comprehensive background check
