Broadcast Journalism Internships

WETA Public Television and Classical 90.9 FM provides internship opportunities designed to help expand students' knowledge and experience in public media and compliment their studies. Working on the weekly national program, "Washington Week with Gwen Ifill", the intern will research national and international news stories, fact-check scripts, monitor live news events, log video archives, prepare the green room for guests, and assist with website updates. They will also participate in weekly editorial meetings and assist producers in the control room during the live broadcast. Special projects as assigned. Iconic Magazine (www.iconicmagazine.com) is searching for a Program Director of our new weekly internet show, Iconic Radio. The Program Director will assist with: - Sorting through show submissions and forwarding to the correct show hosts (1 host per week). - Keeping in very close contact with show hosts - Scheduling shows with submitters and outlining the show for the host - Uploading proper music to the Blog Talk Radio board - Following up show interviewees via email and snail mail with cards of thanks and praise (will provide budget) The intern should be able to attend weekly conference calls (2) - 1 for the team every wednesday night from 7:30PM EST to 8:30PM EST and 1 for the show - both 1-hour a piece.

We currently have college journalists from across the US writing for the website on a daily basis, yet we are looking to further develop the business with the assistance of some interns. This is an incredible opportunity for students that want to get involved in a "hands-on" internship program, as all interns will be actively involved in developing the business, rather than coffee runs or nonsense tasks. ULife.com is looking for Broadcast Journalism interns with an interest in on camera work to handle news reporting in a way that is engaging/informative/entertaining for our viewers. Responsibilities will be on campus (or other locations) news reporting with our camera man, as well as conducting on camera interviews. We need personalities that can handle dramatic/serious events when the time calls for it as well as not so serious events. We are looking for anchors as well as beat reporters.
