WETA Public Television and Classical 90.9 FM provides internship opportunities designed to help expand students' knowledge and experience in public media and compliment their studies. Working on the weekly national program, "Washington Week with Gwen Ifill", the intern will research national and international news stories, fact-check scripts, monitor live news events, log video archives, prepare the green room for guests, and assist with website updates. They will also participate in weekly editorial meetings and assist producers in the control room during the live broadcast. Special projects as assigned. Internship with News for Beginners. News for Beginners is an English learning website that aims to provide news to students who are just beginning to learn English. It is a news papers for learners. The news articles are easy to read and provide real, current information about world events from people who live in different countries. We are looking for one or two students (or graduates) who are interested in journalism and social issues in their country and surrounding area. The selected applicant will write short articles about the current events that are happening in their country. The applicant must be: Able to speak English at an intermediate or advance level Located in the country about which they are writing. Interested in journalism, studying journalism, political science or related topics Able to carefully follow instructions via email Able to get regular access to the internet The selected applicant will be required to: Communicate with the Director of News for Beginners on a regular basis Submit one article per week about an important event, topic or issue happening in their country Applicants must submit: A resume (CV) A picture A cover letter explaining his/her interests, future ambitions and a brief explanation of the issues his or her country is dealing with at the moment. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is a nonprofit organization working toward effective medical practice, research, and health promotion. For the last 26 years, PCRM has led the way for reforms of federal nutrition policies, and our clinical research programs are breaking new ground in diabetes, cancer, and other serious medical conditions. We have fought for an emphasis on prevention, higher ethical standards in research, and scientific advances in basic research and effective drug development. We have worked with physicians, federal regulators, politicians, researchers, educators, students, and concerned citizens. And we have so much more work to do. PCRMs Toxicology and Regulatory Testing team finds and implements science and policy-based solutions to reduce and replace the use of animals in tests conducted by pesticide, chemical, drug, and cosmetic companies. The Toxicology and Regulatory Testing Intern will work with our Director of Regulatory Testing Issues on researching and preparing educational materials (web and print), assisting with grassroots, media and educational aspects of our campaign to encourage cosmetic companies to stop testing on animals, assisting with the teams lobbying activities, including tracking Capitol Hill visits and preparing materials, and assisting with the preparation of reports for the public or for peer-reviewed publication on topics related to animal testing. This internship is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the policy issues associated with efforts to promote alternatives to the use of animals for product and chemical testing while making a valuable contribution to PCRMs campaigns.

Web Developer Intern: Are you a front-end developer with an eye for design? We are looking for someone to come in and work with our design team on building out a standards repository (both design and code) that would serve as the base for all of the clients public websites. This position requires the ability to balance business/design needs with development standards and scalability demands. You must be able to define the structure for complex web sites from the ground up and developing well-written front-end code: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Ajax and more.
