Learn about live television production, with an emphasis on product display for retail TV.
Attain knowledge of the live show and product display that is not taught in class.
Gain first-hand experience to the point where the student knows what to expect when going out into the real world.
Get behind the scenes exposure to studio production in a live, 24/7 environment.
Get behind the scenes exposure to product styling and Talent interaction.

We are looking for:

Creative students with a positive attitude, willing to develop new skills, and work effectively in a Team environment.

TV Production or Design related majors (or similar) seeking experience in a live show atmosphere.
Professionalism in communication and personal presentation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Shadowing Visual Coordinators and Visual Specialists.
Assisting Coordinators and Specialists with day-to-day responsibilities including: unpacking, steaming, sorting, verifying quantities and quality, creating displays, table trafficking and other aspects of broadcast product display.
Completing offline Projects that could include: product prep, prop and supply maintenance, product return, or other Departmental needs


Minimum Requirements:

Classes in Television Production or Design, or related subjects. Some retail experience is helpful, but not required
Some experience dealing with Customers or Guests.
Punctuality and regular attendance
Juniors and seniors preferred
In order to participate in our TV Internship program, you must be earning college credit
Must be able to participate in a minimum of 20 hours per week

Fashion Stylist - Fall 2013 Internship

Overview of the Internship Opportunity:
  • Learn the dynamics of different roles as relates to fashion styling, (live broadcast, Showstoppers, dot.com, promos, models)
  • Attain a deeper understanding of a live broadcast in a 24/7 environment that is not taught in class with regard to styling
  • Gain exposure to vendors, merchandising team, producers, models and gain better understanding of how each constituent plays a part in the overall vision
  • If time permits and if the Students desires, we can schedule a shadowing day with the merchandising team to gain a business POV
  • Gain exposure to learning how to read show notes and conduct live shows

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Assist HSN staff and freelance stylists with day to day styling responsibilities and project preparation; (pulling show notes, selecting items for models, aligning wardrobe in order of each show, meeting with vendors
  • Assist in communicating with Producers and review flow sheets prior to airtime and in suggesting changes based on presentation.
  • Assist in directing models during live show presentations (depending on comfort level)
  • Assist in keeping wardrobe area neat and organized.
  • Assist in prepping clothing as needed (ironing etc.).
  • Attend any and all intern meetings and functions
Minimum Requirements:
  • Classes in Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising or related. Some experience outside of classes regarding live shows optional, but not required
  • Punctuality is a plus

Supervising Producer/Associate Producer - Fall 2013 Internship

Overview of the Internship Opportunity:
  • Learn project management and producing skills necessary to make for great on-air presentations/demonstrations, exciting events and stellar shows
  • Learn how/when content/assets (like b-roll/graphics, etc.) are used and when and how to request that content
  • Learn the logistics of what it takes to make a great showeverything from requesting sets and visual propping to aiding with guests needs prior to showtime
  • Gain exposure to vendors, guests, merchandising team, producers, and live show personnel
  • Gain exposure to learning how to write show notes for live show execution
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Assist Supervising and/or Associate Producers with day-to -day project management responsibilities and requests

Scenic Technician - Fall 2013 Internship

Works within a team to assemble, store, load-in, strike and maintain scenery used for the live broadcast. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assembly and installation to include finishing and painting of scenery and props for the live broadcast.
  • Transport sets and props between broadcast site and off-site storage location.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair of sets and props.
  • Maintains the integrity of all set designs by ensuring the set is consistent with the design and visually ready for each airing.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Working towards a degree in a related field.
