2013 San Diego Internships

The Grant Writing Intern will work directly with the Administrative and Public Affairs Department to secure funding for San Diego Pride. In addition to creating comprehensive and compelling grant proposals, will also be responsible for supporting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant submissions to foundation and corporate sources. This internship will give the intern valuable real-world experience in grant-writing and fundraising. This person is considered an integral part of the Department and as such, their ideas and input will be valued. The intern will work at least 10 hours per week during quarter / semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination at the discretion of the intern with supervisor approval.

The Sponsorship Development Intern will work directly with potential and current Pride sponsors throughout the contract fulfillment process. This internship will give the intern valuable real-world experience in attracting event sponsorship and contract management. This person is considered an integral part of the Development Department and as such, their ideas and input will be valued. The intern will work at least 10 hours per week during semester and around 20 hours the month before the San Diego Pride Parade and Festival. Those hours may be worked in any combination at the discretion of the intern with supervisor approval.

The special events intern will work directly the event manager to help with the planning and organization of San Diego Prides annual festival. This internship will offer the intern valuable real-world experience in planning a large community event. The intern will work at least 10-12 hours per week during throughout the semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination at the discretion of the intern with supervisor approval.

You will be learning the domestic and international freight business with a few days training then assisting the 2 sales managers with reports, finding prospects, visiting prospects and customers. Possibly attending some trade shows. The position is part time and if you have any interest in sales, this is a ground floor opportunity that could turn into full time work upon graduation. We have been in business since 1961 and I am the regional sales manager. I have been in this industry for almost 30 years. This is not grunt work, it is truly a training ground for sales in the transportation industry. We hope you can help our company grow and join us upon graduation. The first few weeks are unpaid until we can determine if the fit is right for both of us. It will turn into a paid position after 30 days. We pay hourly plus mileage and commissions. Starting wage is a minimum of $10 per hour. We are looking for someone who has 2 or more mornings free as this is the best time for prospecting.
