Special Events Intern Meals On Wheels of San Francisco The Organization Meals On Wheels of San Francisco is committed to the belief that all seniors have the right to live independently with dignity and respect in their own homes for as long as it is safely possible. It is our mission to provide isolated homebound seniors in San Francisco with nutritious meals, daily human contact, and supportive services to prevent their premature institutionalization. The food, companionship, safety checks, and other support we provide are vital services for seniors who want to continue living in their own homes but cannot shop or prepare meals for themselves. Our network of drivers, social workers, nutritionists, community partners, volunteers, donors, and advocates are a formidable force against senior neglect and malnutrition. We believe in delivering more than a meal we are nourishing the whole person. The Position Reporting to the Events Manager, the Special Events Intern will work closely with the Development team on multiple aspects of Meals On Wheels San Franciscos annual Star Chefs & Vintners Gala. The MOWSF Star Chefs & Vintners Gala will be held Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Fort Mason Center, and features top chefs and wineries from all over Northern California. Our Gala raises $1.9 million to feed homebound seniors in San Francisco. This is an exciting opportunity to experience the planning and execution of a major fundraising event. The Special Events Intern assists with project management, data entry, and logistical support for the Development Department. He or she will provide significant support for all aspects of the silent auction, from donor solicitation to inventory, project management, donor relations, and volunteer management. In addition, he or she will be involved with the planning and production of other MOWSF special events during the internship term. This is a part-time, unpaid position from February to late-May 2013. Ideal candidates will be able to commit 15-20 hours/week. Students and individuals seeking to transition to non-profit development or event production work are especially encouraged to apply. The Position Meals On Wheels of San Francisco is seeking exceptional candidates to serve as Interns in the Volunteer department this Spring 2013. Interns have an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to the breadth of non-profit work, and learn from an outstanding and experienced team. The MOWSF Volunteer department has the support of over 3,000 volunteers per year and many partnerships with corporations, organizations and schools who all in varied ways support our mission. This is a great opportunity to work with a well-respected and highly-developed volunteer program and develop skills in volunteer recruitment and management as well as the field of community engagement. We are seeking Interns that will help us expand our volunteer engagement efforts, while meeting even more of the needs of our homebound senior clients.
