Are you looking for an internship opportunity that will allow you to gain professional experience from an innovative, progressive, and large scale government entity? Are you a self-motivator with the passion to make a difference?

Hennepin County's IT department seeks computer savvy interns to assist teams with various projects. The interns will support and augment various functions within the department. These duties may include, but are not limited to, data entry, general office work, maintaining SharePoint sites, imaging desktops, preparing presentations and data cleanup. Interns will need to be able to use MS Word, Excel, and Outlook and be able to communicate verbally and in writing. On occasion interns will need to setup / attend meetings and interact with various HC employees in a professional manner.

Interns will be expected to work 19 to 40 hours a week from May 2014 – September 2014 with the possibility of extending the internship through the end of 2014 working part-time hours. The schedule is flexible and may include work on nights, early mornings, and weekends as necessary.


Invitations to interview will be based upon an assessment of education and experience. Final candidates may be required to pass a background check post interview.

Responsibilities

The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include:
•Participate in specification gathering meetings.

•Document gathered results in accordance with established procedures.

•Provide assistance to customers as directed by project owner or supervisor.

•Provide status reports to project owner and supervisors.

•Participate in formal and informal meetings with customers.

Requirements

Best Qualified Candidates will have:
•Current and active enrollment as a post-secondary student

•Experience providing excellent customer service in person and/or over the phone.

•User level knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

•Technical aptitude.

•Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds. This is a sedentary position and must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
