Under direct supervision, assists higher level network administrators and engineers in the administration, maintenance, and operation of the organization's networks (e.g., LAN, WAN, wireless and VoIP) and servers. Participates in the establishment of policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, security controls and disaster recovery. Assists in the monitoring and management of network performance and troubleshooting. Performs network and server asset management tasks as requested including the maintenance of network and server component inventory and related documentations of technical specifications. May perform basic upgrades, troubleshooting, and fixes of network hardware and software issues. Escalates complex issues to higher level network and system engineers.
Responsibilities1. Analysis: Responsible for the routine monitoring, testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, hardware, and communication machinery). Monitors and controls the performance and status of the network and server resources.
2. Quality Improvement: Utilizes software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose problems and factors affecting network and server performance. Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of voice and network systems. Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of servers. Monitor the performance of LANs, WANs, and servers. Stays aware of activities in the Information Systems department to avoid outages or duplication of efforts. Follows department standards, procedures and policies. Keeps informed of current network operation center best practices.
3. Communication: Handle 1st/2nd level support calls with customer service as the primary focus. Writes clear, concise, standardized documentation of system problems.
