Description

NationwideBandwidth.com is an IT Managed Service and Telecom consultancy in business for 15 years.

Starting June, we are seeking a systems administrator summer intern, flexible part-time basis.

Come join our laid back office environment complete with IT geeks, other dot coms, zero-defect gourmet coffee, large screen TV, recliner couches, playstation, weekend LAN gaming parties, and tech meetups. 2 blocks from LIRR, Q13 and near Q27 bus in Bayside, Queens, New York.

This is an intensive learning internship. We will train and educate the right individual on all aspects of systems administration such as cloud computing, linux, windows, scripting, systems monitoring and maintenance, how to manage and document complex systems and networks, and they will gain exposure to the real complex and demanding world of IT. They will also gain intimate knowledge of business.

compensation: 8.75/hr - 12/hr depending on experience

Responsibilities

Heavy ongoing documentation in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Working with firewalls and routers such as Cisco and Sonicwall
Using networking and inventory applications
Wiring and cabling inside data centers such as the Googleplex
Auctioning and purchasing equipment on Ebay as well as managing shipments
Vendor Management , working with Microsoft, Acronis, CDW, HP and others over the phone
Creating price quotes for IT projects using templates
Updating project management tools
IT hardware purchasing
Building computers or servers in house from time to time
Coordinating with staff to help them schedule projects
Manage and maintain hardware inventory
Upgrading PCs, installing windows, cloning hard drives from time to time

Requirements

The ideal candidate is someone very reliable, a morning person, go-getter attitude who can think for themselves, has critical thinking, and most importantly has a passion for what they do and an intense interest in computers and networking. They must also possess a strong work ethic and drive to succeed and learn. They must be willing to endure nonstop menial tasks and tedious monotonous grunt work without trouble which is a big part of IT.

This is not such an easy job for some interns only because IT can be tedious. But it is very educational and will provide real world experience and exposure.
