Connections

Description

Seeking writers, artists, photographers, filmmakers, and other creatives!

In two months, we will be launching a storytelling platform that will revolutionize the way American college students view language learning and international education. We're looking for initiative-taking, bright, engaged students who want to get involved at the ground level.

Storytellers will work to create content for our soon-to-be-launched web platform that connects SLE's mission with real world topics. We're looking for creative people who can express why global literacy is critical for our generation. Each team member will be responsible for generating at least one post per month on a topic. Some examples include writing on women's issues around the world, creating photo-journalism pieces, conducting a series of SLE alum interviews, creating a monthly comic strip, etc. The candidate for this position will gain social media and writing experience, create content for their portfolio, and add to their list of publications through their work with the SLE blog.

We also have relationships with some major communications platforms, and there may be opportunities to have your work featured on other sites and publications. And, depending on interest, there are opportunities to engage in developing our communications strategy and working on the advocacy arm of our organization. SLE was founded by students, and many of our current leaders are still students. There is unlimited opportunity to move up in the organization if you're interested!

Responsibilities

---> Meeting with the entire editorial team weekly basis to schedule, check-in on progress, generate ideas, give feedback to teammates, and discuss edits
---> Collaborating with Director of Communications, Social Media Specialist, and other communications team members to develop communications strategies
---> Generating one post per month for the blog (about 10 hrs/month)
---> Developing innovative ways to present information
---> Creating original content and bringing fresh perspectives on topics related to SLE
---> Sharing your good ideas, and telling us when you want to move into another part of the organization or develop an innovative new project!
