DescriptionModern Notion is your place to find fun, interesting and educational content revolving around science and history, and yes, we mean “science and history” in a very broad sense. Well, it’s not quite that place yet. We’re building it now, and we need a team to help us do so. We’re looking for an editorial intern who wants to build a career in writing/journalism and has the chops to start contributing off the bat.
An ideal candidate would have an inquisitive personality who’s kinda obsessed or at least keenly interested in the STEM fields, history, emerging trends, past phenomenons, and whose hobbies include “the internet.” You want to be in a start-up environment where you’ll have the opportunity to get your hands dirty in the day-to-day workings of new website. You have a knack for synthesizing big ideas, like string theory and how-to engineering, but you also know what rules the internet when it comes to sharing, like cute animals or the history of underwear. You’re a great writer who’s written for a digital publication before--whether it’s your own blog or a larger publication.
You don’t need to be a science or history major, but you should be excited and ultra-curious about learning new things. On top of all that, you’re brimming with creative thoughts and you want to make content that will go viral.
Gold stars for video production skills.
ResponsibilitiesBasic Responsibilities include:
- Publish 4-5 pieces of content a day
- Collaborate on projects, videos and web series, podcasts and big weird things no one’s done before
- Research and communicate complex topics and stories
- Contribute to editorial strategy
- Stay up-to-date on industry news, latest trends and emerging technology
To apply please send resume with related writing samples, website/portfolio, social media handles, and maybe a reason or two you’d like to join Modern Notion team (AKA a concise cover letter). Please send resume in PDF form.
Modern Notion is based in New York City. This is a paid internship that can be full or part-time.
