DescriptionThis position is part of the House of Recovery Public Relations and Online Marketing team. The House of Recovery PR team develops and executes media communications strategies that drive traditional and social media coverage to increase awareness levels for the House of Recovery internet properties and its partners.

ResponsibilitiesIntern responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Support PR efforts that target online and social media outlets
Create social media content for Twitter and Facebook
Create "how to" content
Developing story pitches, articles and case studies
Writing press releases, news articles and photo captions
Produce video content for broadcast and online media outlets
Create and maintain summary reports
Assist with special projects as needed
RequirementsThese are the minimum qualifications required to be considered for this position:
Currently enrolled as a sophomore or higher, or graduated within 6 months of the start date of this internship, in an accredited U.S. college/university earning a degree majoring in Journalism, Public Relations, Mass Communication, Marketing or related field
Proficiency with Associated Press writing style
Minimum 3.0 G.P.A. or higher is required
Must be able to communicate online Skype-chat (not video) and via email
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office skills (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong partnering and relationship skills and the desire to succeed within a team environment
Proven self-starter with demonstrated initiative – ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Motivated, positive attitude and a passion for communication
You are fluent in English and possess excellent writing and communication skills.
These are the Preferred Qualifications:
You have a strong academic record in journalism, psychology, languages or computer science.
You have journalism experience.
Previous reporting/writing experience with a student or professional publication in print, television or online media
Previous experience working in social media
Strong research skills and an understanding of how the news media works
Proven self-starter and with the ability to balance multiple priorities
Demonstrated computer proficiency
Previous internship experience in Journalism, Public Relations, Media Relations, Government Relations, Marketing or similar
Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish
