DescriptionAzúcar Communications is looking for a self-motivated, eager college student to join our team as a U.S. Hispanic Online Reporter/Staff Writer Intern for the summer months. This is an opportunity where the intern will assist with our online magazine Alma Emprendedora. The intern will also be coached throughout the length of the internship in all the nuts of bolts of entering the field of Communications and finding out what would be the best fit for their first paid job.
The intern will work closely with the agency founder and New Business Director. Azúcar Communications is a growing Hispanic Influencer agency based in Brooklyn, NY, that focuses on leveraging bloggers, celebrities, media and thought-leaders for Latino communication campaigns.
ResponsibilitiesJob responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintain AlmaEmprendedora.com on a daily basis from current press releases
Work with Editor in Chief in the launch of the next issue of the e-zine (last issue can be found here: http://issuu.com/natachaginocchio/docs/alma_emprendedora_may-june14)
Contribute with ideas to company social media strategy & execution to drive traffic to written content
RequirementsAbility to work 10-20 hours a week
Excellent written communication skills in both Spanish & English
Basic knowledge as a reporter and strong reporting, writing and analytical abilities are required to succeed in this job
Ability to write news from press releases without sounding like the press release
Basic photography skills a plus
Passion for women issues specially Latinas and small business owners
Willingness to learn about the Communications industry & the job market
Open to be coached on career aspects and work on assigned self-discovery assignments
Ability to work from home without supervision and meet Mon-Fri for 30 minutes via Skype
