DescriptionGame Change Hers is a sports career exploration program for females. The mission is to educate and empower females while encouraging them to explore and pursue careers in sports. The blog/vlog contributor internship will consist of writing articles, conducting on camera appearances and interviews and assisting with the creation and editing of other organizational publications.
ResponsibilitiesGame Change Hers is seeking journalism interns for its female sports career exploration program. Interns will be responsible for creating original content for the organization's blog, social media sites and other publications such as newsletters, etc.
***Eligible applicants should be currently enrolled in college or a graduate school program preferably majoring in communications, English or a sports related field or be a recent college graduate. Applicants eligible to receive college credit for internship will be given preference. Philadelphia area candidates will be given preference.***
•Create and update the organization’s social media content including blog entries, videos, surveys & articles.
•Create and update newsletters and promotional materials for the organization.
•Conduct grant research and sports related research via the internet.
•Conduct on camera interviews and appearances with professionals working in the sports industry to be posted on the organization's blog and other publications.
Other possible duties
•Attend tours of sports facilities and sporting events with program participants.
•Assist with managing special events and fundraisers.
•Participate in educational workshops, seminars & trainings.
•Assist with recruitment efforts for programming and/or young professionals board.
The ideal intern will possess the following useful skills:
•Computer literate with experience with Microsoft Office
•Ability to navigate social media sites and blog using a computer or smart phone
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
•Ability to work as part of team on assignments and independently within deadlines
•Education or course work in communications, journalism, sport management, recreation or other related fields.
Job Type: Unpaid Internship
Local candidates given preference:
•Proficiency with MS Office & Social Media Platforms: 1 year
•High school or equivalent and actively working towards a college or graduate degree.
RequirementsJournalism, interviewing and writing experience or relevant coursework completed
Ability to obtain all clearances needed to work with children and youth
Ability to write about sports industry related topics and the ability to write empowering articles geared towards women in sports and females with an interest in sports careers.
Ability to interview women in sports and professionals in the sports industry.
A writing sample or portfolio of recent work will be required.
