DescriptionPRYSM is a luxury alt. magazine that encompasses everything edgy, dark, beautiful and unapologetic. We feature bands/artists, actors/actresses, film directors, photographers and artists, haute couture and avant-garde designers, beauty/health, fashion and human interest features from not only the US, but all around the world.
We have set out to change the face and view of the alternative culture and subculture (industrial, goth, rock, punk, etc.) and bring it into the forefront of the world of high fashion and the arts. PRYSM is a publication for everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, gender and creed. This culture does not know color, it is for anyone and everyone who breathes the alternative culture/lifestyle - and no one should be told or feel otherwise.
Often at times (we) are misunderstood and it is our objective to shed a new light on the alternative world not only to those that are part of this culture, but for those who want to know more. The alternative culture is alive and booming not just in the states, but everywhere. It is a lifestyle.
We are always looking for talented article contributors who will write based on the latest trends on dark alternative culture. Contributing Editors (also known as Contributing Writers) job description is as follows:
For the following Departments, we are looking for the following:
FASHION & BEAUTY: luxury/dark haute couture and avant-garde fashion and creations of designers and make-up with a dark aesthetic (ex: Viktor & Rolf, Valentino, Chanel, Pucci, Thomas Wilde, Gareth Pugh, Alexander McQueen, Zac Posen, NY/Milan/Paris/London/Japan Fashion Week Updates, Fashion Tends, MAC, Up-and-coming designers, etc).
MUSIC: Goth, EBM, Industrial, Electro, New Wave, Metal, Dark Metal, Alternative, Ambient, Experimental, Darkwave, Indie, Art-Punk, Punk within the US and Internationally. NO SKA, RAP, TRIP-HOP, OR ROCK MUSIC WITHIN THE LIKES OF NICKELBACK AND SIMILAR!
FILM: Dark, Horror, Thrillers, Psychological Dramas, Independent films within the US and around the world.
ARTS & CULTURE: Art of all mediums including Tattooing and Body Modification, events, etc.
ResponsibilitiesDuties: Propose and write articles for periodicals
Position Description: Contributing Editors write an article for every issue, or a certain number of pieces annually. They seldom are part of the periodical’s in house staff. Contributing Editors typically have considerable experience as writers. They must have a recognized expertise and a reputation for reliability, in order to be asked by periodicals to write regularly for them as Contributing Editors. Contributing Editors may be put on retainer to cover specific subjects or areas of interest, or they may be roving commentators who suggest their own topics and, then, are given their assignment by an editor at the publication. Duties may extend from writing articles, reviews, interviews, columns, or editorial commentary.
RequirementsEducation or Training – Undergraduate degree in communications, English, or writing; graduate degree may be preferred/required for specialized writing topics
Experience – Extensive published credits and comprehensive knowledge of subject areas; reputation in the field is a plus
Special Skills and Personality Traits – Reliability; superior writing and research skills; solid self-discipline
Experience, Skills, and Personality Traits: Must be creative, dependable, excellent writers, knowledgeable about their subject areas, and very self-disciplined.
