DescriptionJM Publications is a new boutique publishing company that publishes a new up and coming magazine, Young Urban Voices Magazine. YUV Mag caters to minorities and promises to showcase them in positive lights. We've interviewed with several notable people in entertainment, literature and even in financing. Young Urban Voices is a new magazine that will keep readers engaged on the success of minorities. Minorities will be showcased in a new way that will bring a positive influence to culture. Expect to dive into information that other media outlets neglect. Young Urban Voices will capture the lives of individuals, and groups making an impact in society. This magazine is important to the diverse Sacramento area because it will highlight minorities in a fresh light. The urban world will be covered through stories, interviews, and articles solidifying urban art as innovative. Expect fresh, relevant, and exciting content presented in an urban format.
ResponsibilitiesJM Publications & Young Urban Voices seeks writers to post stories bi-weekly on a variety of topics such as News & Feature stories, entertainment for YUV Dish which is typically on Fridays. Poetry and book reviews or synopses. As well as community/lifestyle, education and opinion pieces. This is ideal for any journalism students looking to build their resume or seeking an internship. Will be responsible for adding their own stories to an editorial calendar and turning this in to us via email on a bi-weekly basis to be kept aware of what is being posted on the site.
RequirementsQualifications: At least 1-2 years writing for either a college news paper, blogs, or any print or online publications. A strong familiarity with utilizing all aspects of social media to build a brand. Designers, for creating online/print layout publication of the magazine.
A passion for writing and a commitment to get things done. Also, the ability to stick with a grounds floor magazine as it reaches success. Also, YUV would need individuals familiar with all social media outlets such as, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, YouTube, etc. and know how to utilize these forms to build a strong fan base.
