Description

Worcester Magazine, a weekly print and daily online publication of the Holden Landmark Corporation, offers year-round, unpaid internships to bright, energetic, capable young men and women with more than a passing interest in journalism. Writing, fact-checking, information gathering, interviewing, photography - you can get experience in every aspect of newspaper journalism. We have served interns at the high school and college level in and around Worcester. We are looking for interns for our fall/winter program. You will work closely with the editor, reporters and other staff to help produce weekly and daily content. You will leave this internship with practical skills and experience. You will have print and/or web clips for your resume, and you will likely make contacts that could prove invaluable later on. This is a terrific opportunity for someone considering a career in journalism. This is great for the college/high school student in a credited program.

Responsibilities

Prepare content for publication in print and online formats
Gather information for publications and work with reporters as needed
Format calendar listings that appear in print and online every week
Compile sporting event listings (college, professional, etc)
Other duties as needed

Requirements

You must have a laptop and cell phone. A camera, if you are interested in photography, would be helpful. Our interns should be punctual, professional, yet able to have fun. Social skills are a must, as is an ability to self-motivate, while being a team player. No particular educational pathway is crucial, but an interest in journalism is a must. Some familiarity with basic journalism practices, as well as AP style, is helpful.
