DescriptionWe are offering a real world experience for a summer communication / journalism intern. This is a great opportunity for a communications / journalism student seeking to build their portfolio.
We publish articles about immigration fraud related issues across the US, Canada and UK.s Duration is flexible but must commit to 8-16 hours per week for a minimum of 8 weeks although 12 weeks is preferred. . The position is unpaid. You will work out of our Maryland office.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but not limited to, working with our editorial staff on:
• Article research, writing and editing
o One particular area of research focus will be immigration fraud through marriage.
• Identify, manage and maintain an active presence through regular communications including:
o Weekly and monthly update emails to our users and fraud victims.
o Social media postings, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
• Working with news aggregators such as Google News
• Press release conception, writing and editing
• Developing media contact lists
WordPress experience and knowledge would be beneficial.
Position requirements include:
• Writing and editing skills, prior experience with copy editing and proofreading
• Computer skills
• Creative and research skills
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Proficiency with social media on multiple platforms
RequirementsPrevious journalism experience is a plus but NOT required. Skilled writers and communicators passionate about liberty are encouraged to apply.
A journalism major is not necessary. Students from all disciplines, including political science and criminal justice, are eligible.
The program is open to undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates.
Due to visa and travel costs, most interns live in the United States. Almost all internship hosts require English fluency, written and spoken.
You must be able to work at least two days a week.
You may apply to obtain course credit from your academic institution.
