DescriptionThis is for an internship for 2017. Do you want to be part of a new and growing nation-wide health initiative? Highlight stories, celebrate health, and create innovative ways to communicate that will influence and touch thousands of people. Skinny Gene Project is unlike your typical 501c (3) non-profit. We are the first in San Diego County to be awarded Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) FULL Recognition as a provider of the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP). We are partnered with the CDC to deliver the program and continually collaborate with other local and state organizations to increase our reach.

Responsibilities-Have a distinct voice
-Edit content from marketing, social media, blogs, etc
-Be the healthy lifestyle journalist of our Website, Facebook, and Blog through creative and unique ways
-Research, write, edit original up-to date content in categories including healthy lifestyle (exercise, nutrition, mindfulness, etc) articles and associated products to post to our Website, Blog and Facebook
-Post 1-2 posts for the website and social media outlets a week & a min. of 1 articles
-Ability to engage in social media conversations to build interest in and awareness of Skinny Gene Project
-Develop health information for diverse audiences
-Identify possible avenues to reach participants
- Work on special projects, as needed
Requirements-Undergraduate junior, senior, recent graduates, masters in Journalism, Communication, English or related field
-Minimum of 3 months and a 15 hour/week commitment with a possibility of extension.
-Academic credit for the internship is at the discretion of your college, or university.
-The internship can provide outstanding background for students from a number of different fields of study. Skinny Gene will consider applicants without a journalism/communication/english background and will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
-Familiar with AP style writing guidelines
-Knowledge of MS Office applications
-Good communication skills to interview individuals
-Critical thinking skills
-High standard of grammar and English language
-Clarity and conciceness
-Knowledge of and understanding importance of SEO
-Expert working knowledge of social media internet tools is necessary for the distribution of information. These include, Blogging, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Pinterest.
-Ability to engage in social media conversations to build interest in and awareness of Holly Doss to a US Market
-Be able to work independently, with initial guidance
-Be creative, flexible, and adaptable

Preferred - WordPress, Social Media Blogging
